For any doctor caring for inpatients with COVID-19, especially those with serious illnesses, 2020 was a bleak and uncertain year. The range of available treatments has now been substantially expanded thanks to several well-conducted research. Through a predetermined secondary analysis of their previously published randomised clinical trials, researchers from the international Randomized Embedded Multifactorial Adaptive Platform for Community-Acquired Pneumonia (REMAP-CAP) consortium take a significant step toward filling these evidence gaps in this issue of JAMA.
