Governments and civil society organizations need to finance programs to mitigate the impact of HIV on vulnerable populations such as women and children. This brief provides an overview of innovative financing mechanisms currently used to support people affected by HIV across the world. It includes details of the structure, effectiveness, and factors that affect implementation. While some of these financing models raise additional funding for traditional interventions, some organizations have been able to improve the effectiveness of the health system in generating impact using funds already available.
